The run-family company San Rustico in Valgatara, in the heart of Valpolicella Classica area, has a long tradition in wine management, having already begun the activity since 1870 in the farm called "Gaso" near Marano of Valpolicella.
The activity inherited by great-grandfather Luigi, well-known wine ambassador in the world, as it attests the gold medal received from the Consulate to Copenhagen in 1908, has been handed down, as from tradition, of father in child, up to the actual fourth generation.

Today brothers Marco and Enrico Campagnola, after the untimely death of their father Danilo, continue with devotion and passion, and with serious professionalism and great care the activity of family, gained through the direct experience in winery since boys.

They are faithful to the winemaking traditions of Valpolicella Classica, and personally follow every phase of production, being Marco winemaker and Enrico agronomist: from the cultivation of the vineyards to the selection and hand-harvest of the grapes, from the traditional drying to the vinification, from the maturation and refining up to the bottling phase.
In short, from the grapevine to the bottle.

The grapes' selection (above all Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella kind of grapes) already begins in the 22 hectares of ownership of the company: they extend among the hills of Valgatara, Marano and Fumane.

The grapes destined to the production of the Amaroni and Recioti Classici of Valpolicella - that could varied from 1200 to 2000 annual quintals (and in any case never plus than 40% of whole production) - "rest" in the Fruttaio (it is ventilated and the degree of humidity is checked) for about three months, from the end of September to December. Traditional racks or mats (called "arele") welcome the best clusters and preserve the best characteristics up to the moment of the vinification.

The course of these prestigious Red wines of Valpolicella will continue then in the part destined to the refining: the company use both the traditional big casks (from 20 hls to 60 hls) in Slavonia and Allier oak both the smallest, 500 liters tonneaux and 225 liters barrique in French oaks (Allier, the appreciated Tronçais and Nevers).

The annual production is around 170.000 bottles: the 60% of the production is destined to the foreign market (above all Europe and North America), the rest to the Italian market.
It is distinguished in two brands of selection: the classical brand "San Rustico" (Valpolicella Classico doc, Valpolicella Classico Superiore doc, Amarone Classico and Recioto Classico) and the prestigious brand "Gaso": a selection coming from the best grapes in the vineyards, among which stands out from the others Amarone della Valpolicella "Gaso", very appreciated and worldwide well-known.

The winery welcomes both the Italian and foreign customers in a family and close atmosphere: the guests will appreciate the whole passion that, crossing the vineyards that the wine cellar surrounds, is contained then in every single bottle.
